Course Modules

Unit I – Plant location and layout

Selection of plant location – consideration of land, water, electricity, location for waste treatment and disposal – further expansion – safe location of chemical storage LPG – LNG-CNG acetylene, ammonia, chlorine, explosive and propellants- equipment layout - safety system fire hydrant location – fire service room – facilities for safe efficient exposal and treatment tank approach road – security tower – safe layout for process industry engg. industry, construction site, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fertilizers, refineries, food processing nuclear power station, metal powder, manufacturing fireworks and match works.

Unit II – Principles of machine guarding

Guarding during maintenance – zero mechanical state ( ZMS) definition policy for ZMS guarding and hazards point of operating protective device – machine guarding types, fixed guard, interlock guard, automatic guard, trip guard, electron eye, positional control guard, fixed guard, fencing guard, construction, - guard opening – selection and suitability lathe, forging, hammer, milling, shaping, sawing, sheaving pressing, drilling, barring , fly wheel- shaft – coupling – gears sprocket wheels, chain fully belt – authorized entry to hazard installation – benefits of good guarding system.

Unit III – Hot work safety

Gas welding and oxygen cutting resistance welding, Arc welding and cutting, common hazard, PPEs training safety precaution in brazing, soldering, metalizing explosive in welding, selection care and maintenance of the association equipment and instrumentation – safety in generation, distribution, handling of arrester – leak- color coding- flash back arrester – leak detection – pipeline safety- storage and handling of gas cylinder.

Unit IV – Safety inspection and testing

Heat treatment operation – electro plating – paint-shop – sand and shot blasting – safety inspection of testing – dynamic balancing – hydro testing – safety in radiography- personal monitoring devices – radiation hazards – engineering and administrative controls.

Unit V – OSHA standard

Introduction development of OSHA standard structure and feature of OSHAs 18004 benefits of certification – certification procedure – OH & S management system specification and scope – developing OH & S policy – Guidelines – developments, procedure – content of OH& S policy- General principle- strategy & planning specific goal – compliance- methodology step developing , action plan- analysis and identify the priorities – objective – targets – short term action plan – benefits and cost each option – development of action plan.
